Welcome to
STUDY BUDYZ
Family Church, a Faith Based Organisation, after having been involved in the Silvertown Community for the past few years, is now responding to the felt needs of our local community. After extensive research, Study Budyz was birthed in order to address some of these needs. This project operates under the auspices of the church but remains financially independent. Whilst being financially independent with our own banking account, we are accountable to the church and its leadership.
The aim of Study Budyz is to support Children, Youth and CHILDREN AND YOUTH AT RISK, regardless of race and creed and help shape their future by offering extra lessons after school. Currently in South Africa, due to the economy, children are left on their own to do their homework as both parents / guardians are working to make ends meet. Due to pressures and stresses, many parents are indifferent toward their children’s education. Study Budyz is bridging this gap by offering after school classes where children are able to complete their homework, get assistance with projects, receive help with “problem” subjects i.e Numeracy, Literacy at Primary level, English, Pure Mathematics and Maths Literacy at High School level. We assist with preparation for tests and exams in a safe and conducive environment. Children receive small group instruction and one-on-one support, a missing dimension in our overcrowded classrooms.
A meal also forms part of this programme since many of these children do not get a meal at home and as has been proven, a hungry child cannot concentrate nor perform well academically. Children and Youth are our Nation’s future. They need to be empowered, be in accountable relationships and led by example through mentoring.
Valedictory
We celebrate our students every opportunity we get and we are so proud when they reach grade 12. We have our own valedictory service where they are honoured and given advice as to how to take on the last chapter....finals.
Facilitators
All of our facilitators are volunteers and give up every Wednesday evening to reach out to the students needing to better themselves in their schooling. We also have reading buddies who takes on students one-on-one to help them improve in their reading.
Our Mission
To develop children and youth holistically i.e. spiritually, mentally, socially, emotionally, physically and to help them acquire a positive self-image. To raise the educational level of the children and youth so that their self-respect and dignity and that of the community can be restored and maintained.
For participants to believe that education is the key to unlocking doors of opportunities and to see themselves as contributors to the economy as they emerge into confident young adults. To encourage them to aspire toward reaching their full potential as they take up their rightful place in society as self-confident, purposeful human beings.
To assist them to find their purpose, untap their talents and release them to make a difference in society.

Our Vision
To impact the lives of CHILDREN and YOUTH by providing them with opportunities that would not be afforded them in their circumstances. Through guidance, love and acceptance, emotional wounds are healed and non-confident children learn to trust and believe in themselves and others.
To MAKE DREAMS A REALITY as they “REACH FOR THAT STAR.”
